Tom Horne has a record of fighting wokeness and getting the emphasis back on Academics in the schools.

Sara Huckabee Sanders, the governor of Arkansas, hit a bull’s-eye when she said that we’re in a war of the normal against the crazy. Tom Horne is the only statewide official who has been fighting for the normal against the crazy.

Here are some examples:

He has been fighting in court to keep biological boys out of girls’ sports. He is determined to bring this case to the United States Supreme Court, if necessary, to keep biological boys out of girls’ sports in Arizona.

In addition, in his communications with schools, he has fought to keep boys out of girls’ bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms. Here again, he is the only state white office holder who has done that.

He started fighting against critical race theory in 2008. He served as Superintendent from 2003 to 2011, then as Attorney General, and now he is Superintendent of schools again because there was such a decline in quality while he was gone. Tucson had critical race theory in its ethnic studies program. Tom Horne wrote a bill for the legislature to put a stop to ethnic studies, which was passed, and Tom Horne enforced it. Ethnic studies ended. But it has come back with a vengeance, and Tom Horne is fighting it all over again.

DEI is just an extension of critical race theory by another name, and he has not only been fighting that, but also has been enthusiastically enforcing the President’s rule that any school that continues to have DEI will lose its federal funding. Things are delayed by a district court order, but when that is reversed on appeal, the enforcement will proceed.

He fights to get academic focus back into the schools, and away from distractions, like excessive social-emotional learning.

He fights to get discipline back into the classrooms so that students can learn and to get more police officers into the schools

To keep students and staff safe. He has increased the number of police officers in schools from 190 to 565.

He has greatly expanded vocational education, with the goal that every student graduates from college or career-ready.

Tom‘s priority is to shift the focus back to academics, ensuring that student learning remains at the heart of every decision.

Why I’m Running

for Arizona State Superintendent of Public Instruction

When I was superintendent of public instruction, my focus was on academic achievement; I was a crusader against mediocrity, laziness, and political indoctrination as a substitute for academic teaching.

Since I left office, much of my work has been undone. Political agendas have taken the place of a focus on academics, and this is damaging to the students. I feel compelled to bring the focus back to academic achievement.
